What Our Nurses Say...

“You're able to develop special relationships with them that way, and you really do become like part of the family, especially since family members are often involved with in-home care.”
Julie Pecor, Pediatric High Tech Nurse at Home Health & Hospice

It wasn't medical gadgetry that convinced Julie Pecor, RN to become a Pediatric High Tech Nurse at Home Health & Hospice. She chose the position after completing nursing school at Vermont Technical College because it gave her the opportunity to spend full days with patients, often multiple times a week.

“Helping LNAs and PCAs gain personal and professional growth as they move forward in their career path has been rewarding and fulfilling! My degree in education has facilitated my becoming an LNA mentor, training new and seasoned LNAs in hospice care. Now, as a supervisor, I can support and create a standard that fosters the growth and future career opportunities of LNAs and PCAs.”

“I love the connections I make with patients because of the night schedule. It’s a privilege to be present during the most intimate and heartwarming moments, at night, during what I call ‘the twilight hours.’ I get to be there with the patients, get to know them, and I am able to provide comfort and support for their families.”

“At the end of life, we need everybody, just like you do when you bring a baby into the world,” Long said. “It’s not just one person. It’s a team. We wrap around the family, and the person in hospice is at the center of that. We tailor our care and support services to what their goals are, knowing their time is short.”
